All businesses operating in the City of Miami must obtain a Business Tax Receipt (BTR) from the Finance Department. Annual renewal required. Yoga studios are classified under personal services or fitness.
Miami-Dade County Business Tax Receipt
In addition to the city BTR, Miami businesses also need a Miami-Dade County Business Tax Receipt from the Tax Collector's office.
Miami-Dade Building Department — Certificate of Occupancy
A Certificate of Occupancy is required for commercial yoga studio locations. Studios serving 50 or more persons are classified as Group A-3 assembly occupancy. Apply through Miami-Dade Building Department or the City of Miami Building Department.
